DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists customers in a wide variety of framing needs, such
as demonstrating picture framing and matting techniques, including use
and safety practices of shop equipment; determining the design elements;
assisting with selecting of materials, laying out, and measuring; and
advising on various custom frame options. Provides instruction in use
of frame equipment and framing techniques. May be required at times
to frames patron artwork or pictures following work order specifications,
including selecting materials and using small hand tools (e.g. hammer,
drill, nail punch, glass scorer, mat knife, stapler, paper cutter) to
assemble the picture frame. Assists supervisor in maintaining control
on all inventory items associated with the frame shop using pre-established
procedures and methods. Conducts periodic inventories. Follows safety
practices and enforces safety rules for customers. Maintains security
of all merchandise, equipment and property. Provides customer service,
answers telephone and assists shop users with craft skill development
and work procedures. Performs other related duties as deemed necessary
by the supervisor. May be required to run the shop during short periods
of absence by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must have knowledge of custom picture framing and be capable
of instructing custom framing in a common classroom setting. Must have
the ability to use framing equipment and tools, to include mat cutter,
corner chopper, glass cutter and corner joiner. Must be capable of performing
basic math skills. Must be able to read, write and speak English language.
Applicant should be able to exhibit a knowledge of composition, design
and colors. May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty, to include
evenings, weekend, and holidays.
