DUTIES
AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perfoms customer service responsibilites for the Schilling Community
Center to include cash handling procedures such as accepting payments
in cash and check, accepting credit cards and gift certificates, and
issuing receipts. Assists customers with information, programs and services
provided by the Schilling Community Center. Serves as the recreation
information referral specialist and lesiure consultant for the Schilling
Community Center. Administers personalized leisure assessments and facilitates
recreation! cultural programs for individuals, families, and groups
to maximize their awareness of leisure opportunities and experiences
while on Okinawa. Promotes leisure outreach by facilitating individual,
unit, and group briefing seminars/workshops related to leisure needs,
the availability of on and off-base recreation programs, and various
facilities. Interacts and coordinates with off-base establishments,
18th Services Squadron and other service/leisure facilites and providers
to develop, maintain, and update the information referral program files.
Understands and uses a variety of recreation reference sources and exercises
resourcefulness in tracking information of local sites, attractions,
and various activities/programs. Carries out recurring group activities
such as classes, clubs, special events, outreach, competitive games
and events, and self-directed leisure. Recommends new programming activities,
to include type of format and resources the activity would require.
Assists individuals with special interests to develop clubs or special
interest groups. Creates maps with written directions, and brochures
with general facility information. Sets up rooms to support meeting
group needs. Greets facility users and conducts facility tours. Decorates
facility to reflect holiday and program themes. Works with other staff
members, volunteers and/or individual/personal services contract personnel.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have experience which required face to face contact with customers
for the purpose of providing information on or otherwise assisting customers
with the organizations products, or services, or policies and procedures,
etc. Must be able to communicate effectively in group settings. Must
be able to effectively communicate orally and in writing. Must have
basic computer skills to include .wordprocessing, data entry, e-mail
and website searches. Must have education, knowledge, or experience
which demonstrates the ability to make change, to balance a cash drawer,
and to prepare simple reports. Knowledge of various tourist sites and
attractions on Okinawa and ability to communicate orally in Japanese
is highly desirable. Appointment is subject to completion of a National
Agency Check with satisfactory results.
