DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible to oversee Lifeguard Instructor and Water Safety
Instructor certification courses within Air Force and Red Cross guidelines
to include developing the program's budget requirements, developing
course syllabuses, acquiring and organizing course materials, reserving
required facilities, overseeing pre-qualifying tests, and completing
curriculum to certify qualified personnel covering the following skills:
water adjustment, buoyancy and breath control, water enter and exit,
locomotion, turns, diving skills, personal safety, surveillance, rescues,
emergency care, after emergency care, and professional lifeguard responsibilities
that are pertinent to each course. Oversees the coordination and implementation
of all instructional programs to include group and private lessons offered
in the operations "Learn to Swim" Program and Lifeguard Courses.
Observes, evaluates and leads instructional staff identifying deficiencies
and provides remedial training or completes disciplinary action if required.
Ensures adherence to health and safety standards for instructional staff
and students inspecting all teaching facilities and utilized equipment
are hazard-free. Creates a non-threatening environment to encourage
participants to meet course objectives and individual goals. Ensure
instructors customize and adapt teaching approaches to the experience
and abilities of the participants. Attempts to resolve informal complaints
and refers other to the supervisor. Prepares and submits marketing requests,
facility and/or equipment deficiencies, lesson schedules, and any other
administrative requirements to Aquatics Director (Supervisory Recreation
Assistant) for approval. Instructs in the following: Infant and Preschool
Aquatics Programs (IPAP), Water Exploration, Primary Skills, Stroke
Readiness, Stroke Development, Stroke Refinement, Skill Proficiency,
Advanced Skills, Community Water Safety, Basic Water Rescue, Community
First Aid, Card Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional Rescuer,
Automated External Defibrillator, Oxygen Administration, Standard First
Aid, Preventing Disease Transmission, Lifeguard Course, Lead Lifeguard
Course, Waterfront Lifeguard and Water-park Lifeguard. May perform other
related or incidental duties as assigned for the daily operation of
the swimming area to include lifeguarding, securing of equipment, and
general cleaning. Performs other related duties as required.*Employees
under the age of 18 will be under line-of-sight supervision when duties
involve working around children/youth
QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicant must have a current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training
Certificate and American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Certificate.
In addition, applicants must have prior experience as a lifeguard and
have knowledge of pool safety and pool maintenance requirements. Must
have prior training or experience which demonstrates leadership ablities.
Water Safety Instructor certification is highly desired. Completion
of a National Agency Check NAC) with satisfactory results is a condition
of employment. Until Filled
